It seems like I’ve had a little bit more time to play games this week. I finished COD black-ops, finished ace attorney trials and tribulations and played some Pokemon. So lets get started.

I bought black ops at release but I never really got into the single-player, I played a fair amount of multiplayer but for whatever reason it’s taken this long to finally get around to finishing the single-player. Overall I would say that the single player for black-ops was really underwhelming, the set pieces were boring and the characters were uninteresting. In terms of the multiplayer I think there are some really good maps, not quite as good as the original modern warfare, but much better than modern warfare 2. So yer unless your into multiplayer don’t buy black ops

I’m gonna get straight to the point and say I loved Trials and tribulations. The previous 2 ace attorney games we great but this was the best overall. All the cases flowing together was a great idea. I’ll probably move onto the next game in the series eventually but I’m a bit apprehensive because of how nicely this game wrapped everything up. But so far the ace attorney series is something anyone with a DS should play, it really doesn’t get the attention it deserves and if more people buy the games maybe capcom will translate investigations 2. 

So finally this week I played some more of pokemon white. Thats the game I’m focusing on at the moment so hopefully I’ll get it finished soon. I’ve only just beat the 6th gym so I have a way to go yet but I’ll take my time and enjoy it. I’ve mentioned pokemon a lot in past posts so I’ll try not to repeat myself. I will however, say that the 6th gym was stupidly easy. A gym that far into that game that uses nothing but flying type pokemon really doesn’t offer much challenge. Anyway in summary i’m still liking the new pokemon and I’m looking forward to playing it some more.

I guess that’s pretty much it for this week, hopefully I’ll have a little bit more to talk about next week seeing as the whole team is meeting this week to do some recording. Anyway I don’t have any cool minecraft pictures so I’ll just end it here.  

So its another edition of Tanya’s top ten cutest Pokemon this time its for Pokemon Black and White. This wasn’t easy but here goes;

10: Cottonee

It’s so fluffyyyy!! Seriously it just looks so cuddly and if its cuddly it’s cute. It has these big cute eyes so it had to make it into my top ten unfortunately its not quite cute enough to get any further than number ten.

9: Petilil

As a girl I love flowers so any sort of flower related thing has to be cute. For instance take flower from Bambi, he’s a skunk but the name alone makes Flower adorable! Petilil looks so delicate and the fragility of a Pokemon can ultimately make it cute. Maybe that’s just from the maternal instincts in me so Petilil makes it in at number nine.

8: Vanillite

Vanillite is number eight in my top ten cute pokemon, it reminds me of snow, ice and ice cream so how can I not like that.

7: Minccino

I can’t quite describe what it looks like to me all I know is that it looks rather huggable and I wouldn’t mind having it as a stuffed teddy or something. Not that I condone the stuffing of Pokemon.

6: Litwick

The number six spot goes to Litwick for some reason this candle looks adorable maybe it’s because it seems so small. Small things are cute.

5: Emolga

Emolga comes in at number five, maybe I was swayed by the image but you can’t deny its cuteness. The expression is so lovable.

4: Blitzle

Number four is Blitzle it may not be as obviously cute as some of the other pokemon yet its still cute. It reminds me of horses and well I’m a fan of horses.

3: Lillipup

Unfortunately in at number three it is Lillipup, now I say unfortunately because as a die-hard cat person it feels wrong to put anything dog like in a top ten cute list however this is like a fluffy puppy, this pokemon seems so innocent and playful so it could not be left out of my list.

2: Reuniclus

Number two is Reuniclus, I’m not sure why this is cute but it is, seeing this pokemon made me awwwww. There is something about this pokemon which just seems like such fun. Maybe because it is so different and that is why I like it.

1: Oshawott

Oshawott is like one of the cutest pokemon ever. Its cuddly, seems ditzy, it seems playful. It has every quality that makes a pokemon cute. It was so easy to give the number one spot to Oshawott I almost didn’t care about the rest of the other pokemon. So that is my top ten cute pokemon for Black and White.

So its been a pretty big week in gaming for me so in case you can’t be bothered to read through the whole blog here’s the condensed version: I completed dead space 2, started mass effect 2, played some more pokemon, played a bit of ace attorney, played some dead space extraction on the PS move and got my 3DS. So now you know whats coming lets get started

So i’ll start with the games I was playing last week. I finished dead space 2 and I really enjoyed it. I won’t go into too much detail because you can read my full review here. So I’m still playing pokemon white, but I haven’t made much progress over last week. I’m still enjoying seeing new pokemon and exploring new areas, so I’m happy to just take my time and enjoy the game. I’ll probably talk more about pokemon next week but seeing as this week I have much more to talk about I won’t say much else.

After I completed dead space 2 I started playing dead space extraction. This came as bonus content on the dead space 2 limited edition disk and it’s always good to have some excuse to use my move controllers. So me and Tanya (another member of the stars team, in case you’re new to the site) have played a few chapters on co-op and so far it’s a pretty decent rail-shooter. It is, however, not scary at all. I imagine its because it’s a rail shooter so the pacing is all driven by the game mechanics. So far it’s been fun to play, but co-op games are always more fun. 

Sticking with console games, this week I finally started mass effect 2. Now I’ve had this game for a while but I’ve never got round to playing it. I’ve been told by a few people that its an amazing game so I’ve thought about playing it for a while. Now I haven’t played the first mass effect and despite Daniel (also a member of the stars team) telling me I should, I ignored him and started the second one anyway. I haven’t played it for very long but so far it seems like an ok game. There’s nothing wrong with the game and I’ll most likely continue playing it but it hasn’t really drawn me into it quite yet, but I have not particular problems with the game. I’m not the biggest sci-fi fan so I didn’t think I’d ever really get super excited about the plot, but as I said before I’ve only scratched the surface so i’ll reserve judgement for when I’ve played a bit more.

This week, for the first time in a while, I tried to play some more of ace attorney. For a while now I’ve been trying to complete the whole ace attorney series and so far I’m up to Trials and Tribulations. I love the ace attorney series but so far with all the games I get to a point where I get a bit bored of the repetition and I put the game to one side for a while but eventually I come back to it. At the moment I’m trying to get this game finished so I can move onto Applo justice and then eventually investigation. I’m enjoying this game much more than justice for all, which at times felt like a real grind to finish. I think it’s because this game mixes up the pacing slightly, in the previous games, the first case would be just a trial, the second would be an investigation and a trial, then the third would be 2 trials and 2 investigations. This game changes that so the later cases don’t drag on as much. I’m hoping to get this game finished in the next few weeks so maybe I’ll do a full review then, but no promises.

Finally this week my 3DS arrived and so far I’m really enjoying it. If you want to read my full first impressions check it out here. I won’t talk about the hardware much because not much has changed since yesterday, so I’ll talk more about the only 3DS game I have, which is Pilotwings Resort. I have pilotwings on the N64 and I’ve never really played it but after playing (and completing) the 3DS sequel I think I’ll have to play it sometime. So while the game wasn’t very long, it was really fun. It’s just a simple arcade flying game but, for a launch title, it’s got a lot going for it. So I’ve played all the missions and done a few free flights, while the missions were fun the free flights were held back by a two minute time limit. Having only 2 minuets to fly around the island makes collecting a lot of the various trinkets tedious. Other than that slight drawback I would definitely recommend anyone with a 3DS picking up this title. Although with the lacklustre launch lineup, that doesn’t really say much.

Seeing as the sites been pretty dark as of late I thought I’d start doing a blog on gaming life. I don’t know how this is going to work but I guess it’ll be weekly. Anyway lets get started

So at the start of this week I finally got started on dead space 2. I’ve had the game for a while but seeing as i’ve had a ton of uni work to do I didn’t have time to play it. I’m about 5 chapters in and I’m liking what I’ve played so far. It’s not that different from the original dead space but I don’t think it really needed to be. I loved the first dead space and so far the sequel is living up to expectations. Although one main difference I’m noticing is that this game isn’t scaring me nearly as much as the first one. I imagine its probably because I’m much more familiar with the necromorphs this time around and there’s not been much enemy variation over the first game. So yer I’m liking dead space 2 so far, maybe i’ll do a full review when I actually finish it. Oh and the puking necromophs are ridiculously annoying. 

The only other game i’ve played this week is Pokemon. Black and white came out recently in the uk and I’ve been playing the white version. I’m not that far into it yet, I think i’m only at the 3rd gym but so far it seems pretty good. I’ve always been a fan of the Pokemon games and while I am enjoying the latest version I do have some mixed feelings. First of all while I think the changes they made over the previous versions are great, I feel that a lot of the cool features in Heart Gold were lost. Like being able to have a Pokemon walk with you. It’s a little thing, I know, but I really liked that aspect of heart gold. One more major missing feature is having the menu on the bottom screen. Now in black and white this is replaced by the C-gear, which lets you do a lot of the multiplayer features. Seeing as I have no reason to use the online features I tend to leave it turned off to save battery, so the bottom screen is basically unused outside of battles. Of course these are just small problems and they haven’t really hindered my overall enjoyment of the game. In a different note I’m loving the all new Pokemon line-up, I’ve been a bit uninterested in the new Pokemon since generation 3. Maybe it’s because you only see new pokemon, but i think theres some really interesting new ones. As of writing my current team is: Dewott, Drilber, Blitzle, Victini, Pidove and Throh. Something I’ve been hearing in the gaming news lately is that the bad guys in pokemon white actually have a good point. Team plasma, as they’re called, believe that all pokemon should be free and trainers should not keep them trapped in balls. Now while I can see why this has sparked some discussion but there’s one thing that continues to bug me. The members of team plasma still use pokeballs! Why don’t the members of the team use free pokemon to do their bidding or at least let them wander around outside of their pokeballs. It just always seems like their showing a contradictory message. Anyway that’s my quick view of the team plasma situation, those hypocritical bastards.
